“In the light of recent press reports which were selectively quoted and misrepresented my statements during the visit to Azerbaijan, I would like to stress the EU continues to support the activities of the OSCE Minsk group Co-Chairs and to reiterate the EU commitment for a peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, based upon the Helsinki principles of non-use of force or the threat of force, territorial integrity, and the equal rights and self-determination of peoples, that would allow all internally displaced persons and refugees to return to their former places of residence,” Peter Semneby stated

According to Azeri media reports, Georgian Foreign Minister Georgi Vashadze has declared that “the extension of the term of the Russian military base in Armenia jeopardizes Armenia’s independence.” Commenting on the statement, Spokesman for the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Tigran Balayan said:
“We do not share this opinion. The leadership of the country has repeatedly expressed our stance on the presence of the Russian military base in Armenia. We think that Azerbaijani media distort the information out of habit”

If Azerbaijan manages to have anti-Armenian resolutions pass the UN General Assembly, the procedure of passing resolutions should be changed,” Republican MP Mkrtich Minasyan told a press conference today. He assured that the whole organizational and legal system of the organization needs to be reconsidered.
Mkrtich Minasyan noted that together with its supporter countries Azerbaijan is trying to ascribe a religious nature to the settlement of the Karabakh conflict. According to him, it is evidenced by the fact that Azerbaijan traditionally enjoys the support of the countries of the Islamic Conference
